Terms of service

These are the terms for using Alolu, operated by Orbioom LLC. They are written in plain English on purpose. By creating a workspace you agree to them.
What Alolu is
A business phone number, and an inbox that gathers the calls, texts and email sent to it. Some features are marked Soon on our pricing page; those are not yet available and you are not paying for them until they are.
Your number
- Your number is provided by our carrier partner and assigned to your workspace for as long as your subscription is active.
- If your subscription ends, the number is released after a grace period and may be reassigned. We will warn you before that happens.
- Calls to your number ring the phone you choose, or go to voicemail. Alolu does not replace your mobile carrier.
Emergency calls
Alolu numbers cannot be used to call 911 or other emergency services. Calls from the app are connected through your own phone, so in an emergency dial 911 directly from your phone as you normally would.
Acceptable use
US phone carriers police text messaging strictly, and one abusive sender can get every customer's number blocked. So:
- Only message people who have contacted you or agreed to hear from you.
- No spam, no scams, no impersonation, nothing illegal.
- Honor requests to stop.
We may suspend a workspace that breaks these rules, immediately and without refund, because the alternative is losing service for everyone.
Billing
- Plans are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe, at the price shown when you subscribed.
- New workspaces get a 7-day free trial. A card is required to start it, and you are charged when it ends unless you cancel first.
- You can cancel any time from the billing page. Service continues until the end of the period you have paid for; we do not refund partial periods.
- Usage far outside what a small business normally does may be billed additionally, and we will tell you before that happens.
Your data
Your communications belong to you. How we handle them is in our privacy policy.
What we promise, and what we cannot
We work hard to keep Alolu running, but phone networks and the internet have outages we do not control, so we cannot promise the service will never be interrupted. Alolu is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending your account
You can delete your workspace at any time. We can end the service for a workspace that breaks these terms, or with 30 days' notice for any other reason.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA.
